Since becoming a City in 1976, Hermantown has been a “statutory city,” but it is now considering if becoming a “home rule charter city” is best for the future. Growth has always been a part of Hermantown’s history as a City; now the Charter Commission is exploring what the next step in growth may look like by drafting a charter for its citizens to eventually vote upon. 

Current members of this commission are Dawn LaPointe, Jim Phillips, Jackie Dolentz, John Geissler, Cindy Voigt, Greg Rosenberg, and Linda Bray; Joe Wicklund serves as the city staff liaison.
