The City of Hermantown is pleased to announce that, effective August 19, 2026, SAFEbuilt LLC will be providing Building Department services for our community.
To better serve residents and contractors, SAFEbuilt will offer Remote Video Inspections, providing additional flexibility for inspection scheduling. Permit applications will continue to be submitted and issued through the Cloud Permit Portal, which can be accessed via the City of Hermantown website.
During this transition, questions regarding building permits, Minnesota State Building Code requirements, or inspection scheduling may be directed to SAFEbuilt at 952-442-7520 or [email protected].

The following forms are here to help move you forward in the building inspection process. If there are any questions, be sure to contact City Hall at 218-729-3600. Additionally, you can come to City Hall and have staff assist you with online permitting at our kiosk.
