City of Hermantown to Host Comprehensive Plan Open House
Hermantown, Minn. – The City of Hermantown will host an open house on Tuesday, March 4, to allow interested parties to view the progress made on updating its Comprehensive Plan.
The open house will be held at Hermantown’s Governmental Services Building beginning at 5 p.m. and concluding at 7 p.m. HKGI, Hermantown’s planning partner on this multi-year project, will be on hand with city staff to answer questions, walk through findings, and look forward to the finalization of the new, updated plan.
“The City has been working alongside HKGI, our resident steering committee, and our commissions for the past few years to dial in what our new comprehensive plan should include,” said Eric Johnson, Hermantown’s Community Development Director. “There has been a great deal of helpful feedback from residents at events and through our online, interactive map, and this open house provides another opportunity for that interaction as we get much closer to finalizing the plan.”
Hermantown’s last comprehensive plan was unveiled in 2001, and since that time the city has seen its population surpass the 10,000-mark and significant new businesses move into the community.
“This updated plan will look forward to 2045 and beyond, which we expect will be as difficult to predict as the last two-plus decades have proven to be,” said Johnson. “But having a thoughtful, researched comprehensive plan will help provide the guidance for things we believe we will encounter and the flexibility for exciting opportunities we cannot yet see today.”
