The Joint Airport Zoning Board (JAZB) includes members from the City of Hermantown, the City of Rice Lake, Canosia Township, the City of Duluth, and St. Louis County. Through a collaborative process, JAZB seeks to develop an airport zoning ordinance that achieves a balance between providing a reasonable level of safety, while allowing for compatible community development.

The Joint Airport Zoning Board (JAZB) is composed of member municipalities affected by airport zoning, including the City of Duluth, City of Hermantown, City of Rice Lake, and Canosia Township. JAZB tailors zones to the local land uses adjoining the airport to reduce the economic penalty faced by landowners while ensuring compatibility between the surrounding community and Duluth International Airport. This is allowed through the custom airport zoning ordinance established under Minnesota Statute 360.0656.

Information regarding JAZB minutes and agendas can be found on the Duluth Airport’s website.
