Welcome,

Hermantown is one of the newest cities in St. Louis County.  On February 11, 1975 the State Municipal Commission declared that the Township of Herman could become the City of Hermantown on December 31, 1975.  Therefore, the City of Hermantown has been in a city status for less than thirty years.

The city has experienced many changes since changing from a township.  The state demographer calculated Hermantown's population at 6,759 in year 1980 and now estimates its population at 8,599 for year 2005.  In the last federal census, the federal government computed a 19% increase in population and a 24% in housing stock for the last decade.  With the continuing changes, all city employees pride themselves in working with the citizens of Hermantown.

As your city administrator, some of my job functions include the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and direct the operations of the City government.
  • Recommend the appointment and removal of all city department heads.
  • Prepare and submit the annual budget.
  • Control and direct administrative affairs of the City.
  • Recommend such measures deemed necessary for the welfare of the citizens.

If you have any questions about the city, please call me (218) 729-3600.
